We are Judi Swogger and Joe Pinchot.
Judi is a Brookfield native who has lived most of her life in the township. The 1979 graduate of Brookfield High School is a 1987 graduate of Kent State University with a degree in journalism.
Joe grew up in western Pennsylvania and graduated from West Allegheny High School, Imperial, Pa., in 1983. He received an associate degree in management in 1985 from the Community College of Allegheny County, before deciding he would rather write. He transferred to Point Park University, Pittsburgh, where he received a four-year degree in journalism and communications in 1988.
Joe and Judi began work at the sam edaily newspaper just months apart, and, seven years later, proved that reporters and editors could get along, as they were married in 1995.
Judi worked eight years at the newspaoper as a writer and copy and design editor before leaving for a freelance career, which was greatly sidetracked by the birth of her and Joe’s daughters, now-20-year-old twins, Natalie and Siri Pinchot, and the addition of their sons, Uriah Pinchot, 11, and Malachi Pinchot, 8. Judi also has experience in proofreading and book manuscript editing.
Joe spent 29 years as a reporter for the newspaper, covering local governments and courts, writing feature stories about people and events, and specializing in arts and entertainment writing. Eearly in that career, he was responsible for covering Brookfield during one of the township’s more politically turbulent times.
