Part of the front of the former Southside Market building on South Irvine Avenue in Masury came down this week.

Fire Chief David Masirovits said firefighters were notified April 11 and found that a section of cantilevered roof on the front of the building had broken loose and tumbled onto the parking lot on the southwest side of the building. Firefighters cordoned off the area with yellow tape. They also made sure the electric service was disconnected, he said.

Building owner Anthony Bartolomucci, who bought the property in 2006, has been notified and is cooperating with township officials, the chief said. The gas service also has been turned off, Masirovits said.

Bartolomucci has been using the building, which was put up in 1940, according to the Trumbull County Auditor’s website, for storage, Masirovits said.
