A weak tornado hit Brookfield on June 16, the National Weather Service said today.
In a public information statement issued at 3:56 p.m. June 17, the service said: “The tornado touched down east of Vienna and just north of State Route 82, tracked east across Brookfield, and lifted in West Hill. The tornado produced extensive tree damage across its path.”
The twister’s path was 250 feet wide at its widest, and almost six miles long. It had top winds of 95 mph.
No one was injured, the service said.
The tornado was dubbed an EF1, the second weakest of the six classifications on the Enhanced Fujita Scale.
