National Weather Service investigators arrived in Trumbull County within the hour to survey the damage from Sunday’s storm, a spokeswoman said at about 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 17.
The investigators are starting in the western part of the county and working their way east, she said.
“They’re pretty much doing the span of Trumbull County,” she said.
The probe will determine whether a tornado caused the damage, she said.
Brookfield and Masury were hit by the storm, which uprooted and toppled trees, damaged Brookfield Township Cemetery and blew apart a Kirila Contractors Inc. storage building. A family on Joy Road was displaced when a large oak tree crashed through their roof into a bedroom.
Findings are likely to be released later today, she said.
