Brookfield police said they seized two shotguns, three rifles and a pistol from the mobile home of a Brookfield man who threatened a woman and two men and told them “no one with a badge will make it through the door,” an apparent reference to police.
William R. Slanina, 39, of 1129 Fairmont Circle, is in jail on three counts of aggravated menacing.
An employee of Brookfield Acres, the mobile home park where Slanina lives, told police Jan. 3 that she had arranged a meeting with promoSlanina in her office concerning unauthorized tenants in his trailer, police said. Slanina became upset and yelled profanities and threats, police said.
Slanina claimed he had an AR-15 rifle with a 30-round magazine and an M1 carbine rifle in his trailer and “has no problem shooting” the employee or two men who were present, police said.
Police said they approached Slanina’s trailer, and he could be seen standing at the front sliding glass door holding a rifle. Slanina put the gun down and came outside, police said.
Slanina gave police consent to search the trailer and they found two, 12-gauge shotguns; .22- and .30-caliber rifles; an M1 rifle; and a .22-caliber pistol, police said.
Police said they also seized a bag of marijuana and a pipe, but Slanina was not charged with possession of those items because he had given consent only to search for weapons, police said.
Slanina is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 7 before Trumbull County Eastern District Court Judge Marty D. Nosich.
