Kirila Contractors of Brookfield has begun the Bedford Road widening and paving project in Brookfield.
The company on March 9 cut across Stewart Sharon Road for water line and storm sewer repairs, and the Ohio Department of Transportation said daily lane restrictions are expected into May.
The work is being done between Stewart Sharon Road and Route 62, where the road was torn up to extend sanitary sewer service.
Once the water and sewer work is complete, paving will begin, and Bedford will be open only for southbound traffic, ODOT said. The final layer of asphalt is projected to be laid in October.
A detour takes motorists to Hubbard Thomas Road.
The project cost is $2.1 million.
