Brookfield Board of Education members have offered their condolences to the family of Joseph E. Clark, a 2014 Brookfield High School graduate and son of Randy Clark, the school district’s director of maintenance and head football coach.

“Joey” Clark, 24, of 6891 Wood St., Brookfield, died July 17 when his motorcycle crashed into a car in the 7100 block of Warren Sharon Road, Brookfield. The driver of the car was Kimberly A. Firment, 55, of 8181 Superior St., Masury, Ohio Highway Patrol said. She was not injured.

In a police report released July 29, the patrol said fault in the crash was undetermined and that a crash reconstruction report was pending.

“Losing one of our students this past week has just been devastating,” school board President Ronda Bonekovic said July 22. “On behalf of myself and I’m sure the rest of the board, how heartbroken and praying for the Clark family and give them strength to get up every day.”

Board member Sarah Kurpe praised the contribution Randy Clark has made to the lives of students.

“Just appreciate that and recognize that,” Kurpe said. “Hearts and prayers with the family.”

School Supt. Toby Gibson said he had been contacted by a member of the Class of 1982 – Randy Clark’s class – about planting a tree at the school in honor of Joey Clark.

A memorial fund for the benefit of Joey Clark’s son, Connor, has been established at Cortland Bank, 7202 Warren Sharon Road, Brookfield OH 44403.

A memorial motorcycle run will be held Sept.  26, starting at noon at Papa Louie’s Italian Kitchen, Brookfield, and ending at 5 p.m. Fisherman’s Cove, Orangeville.  The ride ends with a spaghetti dinner. Tickets are $20 per driver, $5 per passenger and $10 if you just want to show up for dinner. All proceeds will be for the benefit of Clark’s son, Connor, for his future educational needs.
