Brookfield police helped two residents of a mobile home outside to escape a stove fire Dec. 22, said Brookfield Fire Capt. Nick Cresanto.
The residents, neither of whom walk well, did not appear to be injured, Cresanto said. They were allowed to reenter their home after firefighters were done.
“They were cooking some dinner, and a mishap happened; got away from them,” Cresanto said.
promoThe home is at 1008 South Park Circle, which is in the front of Brookfield Acres Mobile Home Park.
Firefighters broke windows to help ventilate the smoke, and the windows will need to be boarded up, Cresanto said.
The couple had two cats, one of which had not been found.
The American Red Cross was called to assist the couple.
Vienna firefighters assisted.
