Trumbull County commissioners have awarded a contract for storm water drainage improvements in Masury.
The award to Foust Construction of Girard was made Dec. 23 based on Foust’s bid of $98,491, the lowest of 13 bids submitted. The other bids opened Dec. 8 ranged from 100,000 to $182,093.
Design engineer GPD Group of Youngstown had estimated construction would cost $192,573, officials said.
The project calls for replacing about 1,100 feet of storm sewer and installing 11 catch basins along Second Street between Standard Avenue and Miller Street, and along Miller between Second and Third streets. The project is designed to alleviate some of the flooding that occurs during heavy rains.
Funding comes largely from a Community Development Block Grant the county acquired from the state. Other projects planned under the Neighborhood Revitalization Program includes street paving, sidewalk replacement and installation of a small park. All work is to be done in the spring.
