Brookfield police said they found a “large quantity” of drugs Jan. 31 in a car driven by a Sharon man that
was pulled over for traffic violations.
Brian D. Lauderman, 31, was arrested on charges of drug trafficking, possession of drugs, drug
paraphernalia and drug abuse instruments, driving under suspension and lane and turn signal violations
stemming from a traffic stop on Syme Street near Ohio Street, police said.
More charges could be filed depending on the outcome of tests of the substances found, police said
Lauderman drew attention to himself by “show(ing) a heightened interest in my presence” as a policeman
was parked at Route 62 and Standard Avenue, police said.
Later, Lauderman parked in the Judson Street roadway, instead of pulling over, to allow a woman to get
out, failed to signal turns onto Addison Road, Brookfield Avenue and Syme Street, and crossed the center
line on Syme at Davis Street, police said.
After Lauderman was pulled over, police said they found a cigarette pack that contained a spoon with
white residue on it, and a vape pen that contained THC, the active drug in marijuana, in his pants pocket.
Police said they learned that Hermitage police had warrants for Lauderman charging him with driving
under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drugs, retail theft and other offenses.
A search of the car turned up a bag of unknown pills, two bags containing a total of 16.3 grams of
suspected methamphetamine, 0.6 grams of suspected cocaine or heroin, and 2.3 grams of suspected heroin
and fentanyl, police said. Other items found included a marijuana pipe, a “bottle cap used for drugs” and
five syringes.
promoLauderman told police he did not know the drugs and paraphernalia were in the car, and that they must
belong to the woman he dropped off, whom he identified, police said. Police said they also confiscated
$83 and a cellphone and intended to seek a search warrant for the phone.
Lauderman was arraigned Feb. 2. He did not enter a plea to the felony charges of trafficking and
possession of drugs, and pleaded not guilty to the lesser charges.
Lauderman also has a pending case in Mercer County in which Sharon police charged him with carrying a firearm without a license and possession of drug paraphernalia.
