A Brookfield man is being held in jail on multiple sexual assault charges involving a 7-year-old girl.
Robert E. Richards Jr., 52, of 7440 Stewart Sharon Road, was arrested Dec. 22 on a Trumbull County secret indictment charging him with eight counts each of rape and gross sexual imposition, and one count of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, according to inmate information posted online by the Trumbull County Jail.
Brookfield police, who investigated the case, said Richards was arrested at a little after 5 p.m. at home without incident.
Police said they received the initial report on Oct. 11.
No information concerning his arraignment or court appearances has been published on the Trumbull County court website.
