Brookfield firefighters have called Ohio Edison to check out a neighborhood after a fire call led to the discovery of electrical issues.

A resident of 952 David Lane arrived home Friday and found his house full of smoke, said Fire Chief David Masirovits.
Firefighters, who were dispatched at 4:50 p.m., didn’t find any fire, but discovered that a furnace motor had burned up, the chief said.
promoOther neighbors reported they had had power surges and flickering lights, he said.
A volunteer firefighter who is an electrician and another electrician who lives nearby helped in the investigation.
When the call first came in as a smoke investigation, Masirovits upgraded the call to a structure fire because of high winds. That triggered calls to numerous fire departments in Ohio and Pennsylvania, whose trucks lined the short, narrow street.
