Brookfield Road Supt. Jaime Fredenburg said he met with representatives of the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Trumbull County Engineer’s Office on May 23 to discuss flooding problems in southern Masury.

Fredenburg said they walked Route 62 so he could show them how water flows off the highway and into the neighborhood.

Township and engineer’s office officials have been trying to get ODOT to undertake a project to redirect storm water away from the neighborhood during heavy rains. They hope to convince ODOT to build drainage improvements into the project scheduled for next year to improve safety at the crossovers of Bedford Road and Broadway Avenue, Fredenburg said. ODOT has said that any drainage work would be part of a future project, if warranted.

Fredenburg said ODOT engineers plan to review drainage maps from before Route 62 was built to determine the impact the road has had on water flow, and to report back to the county engineer’s office.
