A Fowler man found with a loaded gun in his car in Masury has been sentenced to probation.

Keith Huff, 21, pleaded guilty March 4 to a charge of improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, a felony. Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Peter Kontos sentenced Huff on May 12 to 5 years of probation.

Ohio Highway Patrol said it spotted Huff’s car speeding Jan. 20, 2021, on Warren Sharon Road eastbound, and pulled him over on Yankee Run Road. The trooper smelled marijuana, and found the .380-caliber pistol, marijuana and a scale in the center console of the car, police said.

promoHuff told police the gun was his and he knew it was there, police said.

Kontos ordered Huff to forfeit the firearm, ammunition and magazine.
