Brookfield Township has been awarded an Issue 1 grant for the paving of Lucy Street in Masury.

The estimate to pave the street between Warren Sharon Road and Ohio Street is $109,000, and Brookfield agreed to pay 31 percent, $34,000.

Issue 1 is a state bond-funded program that provides grants for infrastructure projects through the Ohio Public Works Commission. The state money is expected to be released in July, so Township Road Supt. Jaime Fredenburg expects the road will be paved at the end of the summer of 2023.

Issue 1 money was used to pave Syme Street this year.

Brookfield partnered with Hartford on a grant application to pave King Graves Road, half of which runs in each township, but the project did not score high enough on the point system to be funded, Fredenburg said.

“You’ll have to get with the Hartford trustees and discuss maybe another way to either fund that project or change some things,” Fredenburg said.
