Brookfield Middle School Prep Bowl team won five of their eight matches at an academic challenge competition Feb. 24 at Copley-Fairlawn High School in Akron.

Brookfield finished seventh out of 36 teams that participated.

Members of the team chosen to compete at the event were eighth-graders Brady Myers, Brooke Kirila and Mason Bych, and sixth-grader Uriah Pinchot.

The students faced questions from history, math, science, and literature, as well as modern culture, politics and events.

The Copley tournament was the only one the middle school will compete in this year, said team adviser Keith Joseph. The high school Prep Bowl team is more active, he said.

Joseph’s wife, Shirley, also advises the team.
