People start to hit the dance floor as country-rocker Chris Higbee proves that “Fiddles Rock” at the 29th Annual Strimbu Memorial Fund BBQ, held Wednesday, May 2, at Yankee Lake Ballroom. More than 1,500 people attended and contributed more than $200,000 to the Strimbu Memorial Fund. One of the highlights was the awarding of scholarships – based on leadership qualities and self-reliance – to 13 high school seniors from schools in Trumbull and Mercer Counties. Nicholas Varga of Brookfield High School was named one of a dozen students to earn $2,000. Jennifer Breskovich of Badger High School received the top award, $10,000.
