Employees of the Salvation Army Warren Corps on Dec. 12 wheeled away carts loaded with presents from Brookfield Elementary School.

About 700 families are signed up to receive Christmas gifts under the Angel Tree program, said Matthew Adams of the Salvation Army, adding that he did not know how many children are in those families.

Brookfield families filled the stockings of 52 children.

The Salvation Army seeks to combat poverty and those afflicted by it.

“I think this program helps quite a bit,” Adams said. “This program helps the kids get some presents. I think it’s a great program.”
