Brookfield policeman Jay First was promoted April 1 from patrolman to corporal, said Police Chief Dan Faustino.

Under the police union contract, First was eligible for the promotion because of his 20 years of service to the department.

First gets a bump in salary from $20.74 an hour to $21.50.
