While residents of Bedford Road between Stewart Sharon Road and Route 62 in Brookfield Township may see some work done on their road this year, it’s likely the bulk will be done in the spring, an Ohio Department of Transportation spokesman said.
Kirila Contractors of Brookfield has been hired to widen the road from 18 to 28 feet, pave it, install curbs and improve storm water drainage, said ODOT’s Justin Chesnic. However, utility companies will have to work first to move any of their lines that would be affected by the widening, he said.
Kirila was awarded the contract on a bid of $2,130,550, the lowest of six bids. The others ranged from $2,213,000 to $2,867,158, and all bids exceeded the pre-bid estimate of just more than $2 million.
The road was torn up last year in a resident-requested project by the Trumbull County Sanitary Engineer to install public sewers.
The project completion date is November 2020, Chesnic said.
