Public Utilities Commission of Ohio said Oct. 23 that it had approved a rate hike for Aqua Ohio Inc., including Aqua’s Masury division.
It is the second rate hike Aqua has been granted this year.
The 3.7-percent surcharge will be listed as a system improvement charge and is based on the capital improvement and infrastructure replacement work the company has performed since its last rate hike, the PUCO said. Aqua said it has made $18 million in improvements.
Ohio law allows a utility to have up to three system improvement charges running at the same time, PUCO said.
In February, the PUCO approved a 3.66-percent system improvement charge. Aqua applied for the latest rate hike in March.
