Trumbull County commissioners on Jan. 23 chose the engineering firm GPD Group of Youngstown to design the storm sewer improvements in Masury proposed in a Neighborhood Revitalization Grant.
The award authorizes the Trumbull County Engineer to negotiate a price proposal to cover the design work.
GPD will come up with a plan to upgrade storm drainage pipe and install catch basins on the north side of Second Street from Miller Street to Hubbard Masury Road, and on the east side of Miller from Third to Second streets, a project estimated at $275,000.
The county, working with township officials, applied for $750,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant funds from the state. The grant was awarded last fall. With funds from other sources, the total project budget is $855,000.
The project also calls for: repaving First, Second, Third and Elm streets from Broadway Avenue to Hubbard Masury Road, as well as Miller and Short streets; installing sidewalks along Elm from Hubbard Masury Road to Broadway; and constructing a park on two parcels at Mulberry and First streets to include a fitness system, benches, trash receptacles, a Little Free Library and a pet waste station.
The county engineer’s office will design the street paving and sidewalk projects.
