Rebecca Litz, the “energy girl” of the Brookfield High School basketball team, as her coach describes her, has signed a letter of intent to play college ball at Thiel College in Greenville.
Becca, as she is known, said she had met the coach and some of the players and took in a few games.
“They were real welcoming to me,” she said of why she wants to play at Thiel.
“She’s been our senior leader, our energy girl,” said Brookfield coach Ken Forsythe. “She does about everything you can ask of her. Great role model for our younger girls. Model citizen.”
She will be one of the younger girls at Thiel, a team that will have no seniors next year.
“I think she’s gonna play harder than anybody,” Forsythe said. “That’s how she is.”
A prolific rebounder, Becca said she wants to score more, but added, “For the most part, I know my position.”
Becca lettered four years in basketball – the first at Badger High School – three years in volleyball and two years in softball, and expects to concentrate on basketball in college.
Aside from athletics, she is a member of the National Honor Society, SADD, Future Teachers of America and Student Council. She plans to major in biology and eventually study physical therapy.
Becca had knee surgery five days after her March 12 signing.
promo“I’m real excited to watch her play next year and see how it goes for her,” Forsythe said. “I plan on taking the team to a couple games to see how it goes.”
