Alexa Lindholm has been named the winner of the annual Brookfield Optimist Club Essay Contest.
The contestants answered the question, “Is optimism the key to achieving the dreams you imagine?”
Alex received a gold medal and $100.
Alexis McAnany won the silver medal, and her sister, Samantha, was issued the bronze.
The contest is administered through Optimist International, and James E. Hoffman III was the local chairman. Brookfield High School English language arts teacher Jennifer Laury coordinated the contest at the school for the club.
Typically, the club honors the awardees and presents their awards at a club meeting. The club has canceled its meetings due to government regulations concerning the COVD-19 coronavirus.
