They say that time flies when you’re having fun, but it also flies when you’re busy. That’s why it seems impossible that NEWS On the Green has completed its third year of providing the news of Brookfield, Masury and Yankee Lake. Where has the time gone?!

We feel we have accomplished so much in our short time of publishing, highlighting what our local government and government services have been doing, while also bringing you the stories of individuals and organizations that have made a difference in our town and elsewhere.

Like other startups in the COVID-19 pandemic era, we have struggled to keep NEWS On the Green financially afloat with an already limited advertising base eliminating or reducing its advertising budget. We cherish our subscribers and donors, but we don’t have enough of them to keep up with our costs.

promoHowever, for this month and next, we have help from Google News Initiative’s Journalism Emergency Relief Fund, which is allowing us to mail copies of NEWS On the Green to every address in the 44403 and 44438 area codes, and print extra copies that we will hand deliver to Brookfield Township residents served by the Hubbard, Vienna and Fowler/Hartford post offices. We also have copies in some of our traditional distribution points for folks who come into town from elsewhere and want to pick up a copy.

We know that there still are people in Brookfield, Masury an Yankee Lake who have not heard of NEWS On the Green, despite our outreach efforts over the years. We hope that those who are new to us like what they see.

We also hope that those of you who read our paper or our stories online at newsonthegreen, com will help us keep the news flowing by advertising your business or organization with us, buying a subscription, or sending a donation. We believe we are providing a community service, but we also are a business that will go away without proper funding.

Thanks for the three great years. We hope to be able to continue for many more.
