Brookfield Local Schools reported on Nov. 17 that a staff member had tested positive for COVID-19.
“We have been working directly with county health officials to address this situation; through those discussions with the Trumbull County Combined Health District, it has been determined there are no contacts at this time (at the school) because the district’s hybrid plan utilizes social distancing in the classroom, the use of facial coverings, desks shields/barriers and good hygiene practices,” said Supt. Toby Gibson in an email to parents.
The district, which had been using a mixture of in-person and remote learning, went all remote on Nov. 17, and planned to remain that way at least until Dec. 1.
The district previously reported on Oct. 2 that an elementary student had tested positive, and on Nov. 16 that a middle school student had tested positive.
As of Nov. 17, the Ohio Department of Health reported that there have been 36 cases in Brookfield Township in the last two weeks, 24 in the Masury zip code and 12 in the Brookfield zip code; 59 in the last month (35 in Masury and 24 in Brookfield); and 219 overall (142 in Masury and 77 in Brookfield).
The Brookfield and Masury zip codes do not account for all of the residents of Brookfield Township, but do account for small parts of the surrounding townships.
