Work on Route 82 began in mid-March when a contractor cut down trees around a culvert between Addison and Bedford Roads.

Because of environmental regulations concerning nesting bats, the tree cutting had to be done before April 1, said Justin Chesnic, spokesman for the Ohio Department of Transportation’s District 4.

ODOT has two separate projects set for the road: milling and repaving the road from Route 62 west to near Route 193 in Vienna, and replacing the culvert.

promoShelly and Sands Inc., the paving contractor, began repairs under the asphalt at around the same time that the trees were cut, Chesnic said. In May, the road will be milled, and a layer of asphalt will be put down.

In late April, a contract will be awarded for the culvert replacement, and that work will start in late May or early June, Chesnic said. Once the culvert is installed, Shelly and Sands will put down the final layer of asphalt. The work is expected to be completed in November.
