Brookfield Township Historic Commission is honoring the military service of present and past township residents – and raising a little money – with a project to hang banners featuring veterans and active duty military personnel on the green in Brookfield Center.
The commission has hung historic district and school banners around the green, and would like to replace some of them between Memorial Day and Labor Day with the military banners.
Families can submit a vet or active duty serviceman for consideration by sending the name of the person, the years in which they served, their branch of service, a photo of no less than 4 inches by 6 inches in size, contact information, and a $75 check to Brookfield Township, Attn: Historic Commission, 6844 Strimbu Drive, Brookfield OH 44403.
Information also can be emailed to Shannon Devitz at Shannon_love2003@yahoo.com
The photo will not be returned.
Checks should be made out to “Brookfield Township” with “vets banner project” written in the memorandum line. The deadline for submissions is May 7.
Up to six vets can be honored at a time, and the banners will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. If the commission receives more than six submissions, the extra ones will be held over until next year.
The $75 will cover the cost of printing the banners and give the commission money for future projects, such as the annual Christmas decorating of the green.
