The Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation has awarded Brookfield Local School District a School
Safety Grant that will be used to outfit the remaining school buses that do not already have
surveillance cameras, and upgrade the district’s two-way radio inventory, said district Treasurer Julie
Sloan.
The bureau will cover 75 percent – $10,490 – toward the cost of a $13,987 project to buy and install four
video camera systems, buy eight new radio units for buses, and reprogram 35 existing hand-held radios. The
district will make up the difference.
This is the second year in a row that Transportation Supervisor Ronda Thompson has written a successful
grant application through this program, officials said.
