Codey Bourgeois

A Sharon man who fought with a policeman and kicked a firefighter in the face has been admitted to Trumbull County Drug Court.

Codey N. Bourgeois, 27, formerly of Masury, pleaded guilty to three counts of assault and one count of aggravated possession of drugs on Sept. 8, but sentencing was put on hold pending his performance in
drug court, a program of intensive supervision and treatment for nonviolent, felony offenders.

Bourgeois was arrested Jan. 17 in the 8100 block of Lorain Street, where he lived at the time. Brookfield police said they were called to a domestic situation and broke through the locked apartment door upon
hearing screaming and the mention of a stabbing.

Bourgeois had a 27-year-old woman by the hair, and several large kitchen knives were near him, police
said. Bourgeois followed the police order to let the woman go, but then fought with Sgt. Cody Dean,
leading to a prolonged struggle that ended when Sharon police arrived to assist, police said.

Bourgeois had methamphetamine in his jeans pocket, police said, and kicked Brookfield Fire Capt. James
Williamson in the head when Williamson tried to administer a sedative.
