Brookfield Board of Education has received three applications for its open school board seat.

The hopefuls are: David DeJoy, Derek Mihalcin and Christine Smoot.
Officials said they plan to interview the candidates in executive session at 5 p.m. Dec. 28 and appoint the new member at the Jan. 14 board meeting.
The term of the appointment will be for two years, when the seat will again be subject to election for a two-year term, said district Treasurer Julie Sloan, who also is the board’s secretary.
Three seats were open in the November election, but only two people ran.
