Brookfield firefighters have called Ohio Edison to check out a neighborhood after a fire call led to the discovery of electrical issues.
A resident of 952 David Lane arrived home Friday and found his house full of smoke, said Fire Chief David Masirovits.
Firefighters, who were dispatched at 4:50 p.m., didn’t find any fire, but discovered that a furnace motor had burned up, the chief said.
Other neighbors reported they had had power surges and flickering lights, he said.A volunteer firefighter who is an electrician and another electrician who lives nearby helped in the investigation.
When the call first came in as a smoke investigation, Masirovits upgraded the call to a structure fire because of high winds. That triggered calls to numerous fire departments in Ohio and Pennsylvania, whose trucks lined the short, narrow street.
