Brookfield Twp. Fire Dept.’s 2021 report

Brookfield Township Fire Department answered 2,079 calls for service in 2021, up from 1,922 calls in 2020. The calls broke down this way, with 2020 numbers in parentheses:

  • Emergency medical, 1,648 (1,466). Medical calls made up 79 percent of all calls.
  • Motor vehicle crashes, 93 (93).
  • Structure fires, 56 (57).
  • Other fires, 72 (95).
  • Wires and/or trees down, 89 (123).
  • Fire alarm investigations, 33 (44).
  • Service-related calls, including gas leaks, carbon monoxide and smoke investigations and public assists, 76, (90).
  • promoMutual aid calls to other jurisdictions: 161 (132).
  • Hartford runs: 232 (229).

Station 51 in Masury was closed 24 percent of the time due to lack of staffing. When Station 51 is closed, all personnel are assigned to Station 18 on Route 7.

Brookfield was the sixth busiest fire department in Trumbull County, behind: Howland, 4,077 calls; Liberty, 3,301; Niles, 3,284; Champion, 2,367; and Cortland, 2,227.
