Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued two notifications indicating that Yankee Lake Inc. has improved deficiencies in its public water system, and met administrative requirements.
Yankee Lake Inc., which owns Yankee Lake Ballroom, Yankee Lake Inn and Yankee Lake Party Center, upgraded the wells and water treatment apparatus that provide water to the businesses, resolving what the EPA called “significant deficiencies” or “violations” under EPA regulations.
EPA had notified Yankee Lake Inc. in August 2019 of problems within the public water system that could allow contamination of water used by the businesses.
EPA said it inspected the wells in October and November, issuing a letter Nov. 23 informing Yankee Lake that the problems have been resolved.
On Jan. 13, EPA issued a conditional permit to operate the water system, the condition being that Yankee Lake retain a certified operator. Attached to the earlier notice of resolution was an EPA report that Yankee Lake Inc. General Manager Shawn Morgan has passed the operator certification test, and an EPA spokesman said Jan. 27 that Morgan is listed as the operator of record.
