Brookfield Trustees spent another 45 minutes discussing appointing a third member to the board of trustees on Dec. 9, but could not agree.
“This is not an easy process, because we have some strong candidates,” Ferrara said after the executive session.
Twelve people applied for the seat vacated by Ron Haun. All 12 were interviewed Dec. 7, when Suttles and Ferrara spent 30 minutes deliberating.
Suttles said they are not ready to turn the issue over to a probate court judge – who will make the appointment if Suttles and Ferrara do not – but they have not set another meeting to hash things out. If either trustee wants to set another meeting, they will, he said.
In the meantime, the trustees will take time for “some self-reflection,” he said.
The trustees have until Dec. 15 to make a choice.
Suttles apologized to the three candidates who attended the Dec. 9 meeting, Shannon Devitz, Dustin Ghizzoni and Timothy Gladis.
“We’re being very thorough,” Ferrara said. “We’re being very reflective.”
