When Sam Baidoun was looking to open a vape shop, he figured he’d settle in one of the more populated towns of the area, such as Boardman or Howland.

However, he drove through Brookfield one day and was intrigued. He started investigating possible store locations.

“This one looked good because the traffic is pretty busy on the road,” Baidoun said. “This one” is the building in the 7100 block of Warren Sharon Road, next to Fat Hippy Records. Baidoun opened Vape City Smoke Shop on Dec. 22, offering a variety of vaping products, nicotine disposables, THC products, edibles, smoking paraphernalia, grinders and leaf products such as cigars and pipe tobacco.

“I like the scenery, the people,” he said. “It’s just different, you know; it’s like much more quieter. It’s definitely a good feeling to work here and be here daily.”

Daily is right because Baidoun works seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. He’s the store’s only employee at present.

“We’re dedicated,” he said. “We want to be here as much as we can.”

Baidoun learned the retail sales business from his father, who owns phone stores in Boardman, and his  brother, who owns Vapor Kings in Howland.

He’s passionate about what he does, cares for his customers and tries to give “the best price possible,” he said.

“I really like the people here,” Baidoun said Jan. 10. “Everybody’s nice. It’s been nothing but good business, for sure.”
