Brookfield Twp. Fire Dept.’s 2022 report

Brookfield Township Fire Department answered 2,131 calls for service in 2022, up from 2,079 calls in 2021. The calls broke down this way, with 2021 numbers in parentheses:

  • Emergency medical, 1,660 (1,648). Medical calls made up 78 percent of all calls.
  • Motor vehicle crashes, 98 (93).
  • Structure fires, 63 (56).
  • Other fires, 59 (72).
  • Wires and/or trees down, 100 (89).
  • Fire alarm investigations, 46 (33).
  • Service-related calls, including gas leaks, carbon monoxide and smoke investigation, and public assists, 94 (76).
  • Mutual aid calls to other jurisdictions: 217 (161).
  • Hartford runs: 223 (232).

Station 51 in Masury was closed 39 percent of the time because of lack of staffing, up from 24 percent in 2021. When Station 51 is closed, all personnel are assigned to Station 18 on Route 7.

Brookfield was the seventh busiest fire department in Trumbull County, behind: Howland, 3,847 calls; Liberty, 3,595; Niles, 2,785; Champion, 2,727; Newton Falls, 2,178; and Cortland, 2,164.
