A man who pleaded guilty to a felony count of endangering children for leaving his young children home alone in Masury recently resolved a separate case of going onto Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority property when he knew he was not allowed to be there.
Jerami D. Wells, 33, faces a Sept. 12 sentence hearing on the endangering charge. He left his children, ages 5 and 2, home alone March 20 at Hilltop Gardens, a TMHA property on Addison Road in Masury. The 5-year-old child was seen outside in 35-degree weather without wearing shoes, socks or a coat, Brookfield police said. Wells pleaded guilty Aug. 1.
On Aug. 10, Wells was seen at Hilltop Gardens climbing into a window of an apartment, police said. He was initially charged with burglary, a felony, and criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, but reached a plea agreement with prosecutors to plead guilty only to criminal trespass Aug. 15 at Trumbull County Eastern District Court. Judge Marty Nosich sentenced Wells to 10 days in jail with credit for 5 he had already spent there, a $50 fine and 1 year of probation.
