Three men have been charged with aggravated menacing and two of them with firearms violations stemming from a purported home invasion Aug. 20 in Masury.
Arrested were Christopher Augustine, 32, of Newark, N.J.; Jhalil A. Harrison, 31, of Sharon; and Thomas E. Roseboro, 37, of Masury.
Brookfield police were dispatched at 4:20 p.m. to the 8100 block of Ulp Street. They said they arrived to find a man in the driveway and ordered him to the ground. Five adults and a small child came outside and all were detained.
Police said they were directed to a .380-caliber pistol in the yard and an AR-style rifle on a porch, both loaded.
The victims, two men and a woman, said Roseboro used to live at the home, but did not anymore.
“It appeared that Roseboro was not happy with who was now living in the house and came there to force them out,” said Sgt. Cody Dean in his report.
Roseboro held the rifle and Augustine the pistol and all three told the victims to get out of the house, police said. At some point, the rifle ended up in Harrison’s hands.
The female victim said she thought she had heard a gunshot, but the other two victims did not recollect a gunshot and no casing was found, police said.
Harrison wore an over-the-shoulder bag containing suspected drugs, police said. The substance will be tested, police said.
Augustine, who was wearing a black ski mask, is a “documented” member of the New York Crips gang, police said, and was wanted out of New Jersey.
Augustine and Harrison each were charged with felony counts of having weapons under disability because they have previous felony convictions that render them unable to possess a firearm, police said. Augustine, Harrison and Roseboro each were charged with three misdemeanor counts of aggravated menacing, one count for each adult victim.
The men were arraigned Aug. 22 in Trumbull County Eastern District Court and pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanors. No pleas are entered to felony charges at the district court level. They all face hearings Aug. 29.
Trumbull County Children Services Board has opened an investigation of the child’s circumstances. The child has been placed with its grandmother.
