A Farrell woman who admitted stealing from an elderly Brookfield man has been sentenced to prison.

Felicia C. Splitstone, 35, pleaded guilty Sept. 10 to charges of theft, receiving stolen property and forgery. Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Ronald Rice sentenced her Oct. 17 to 2 years in prison. He also ordered her to pay $10,322 restitution.

The victim, who is now 100 years old, and his son filed a complaint Jan. 11 that Splitstone, who had been the victim’s caregiver, had written checks from the victim’s account without authorization in November and December of 2023, police said.

The victim said he had kept his checkbook in a dresser drawer she would have had access to, police said.

Some checks were made out to Splitstone and another to the company she rented from, police said. Three of the checks were dated after Dec. 21, the last day Splitstone worked for the caregiver company, police said. Some of the checks had “paycheck” and “Merry Christmas” in the memo line, police said.
