The plan for Brookfield’s 2025 paving program is in place. The township recently was awarded an Issue 1 grant for one paving project, and will participate with Hartford in a second grant project.
Ohio Public Works Commission will provide $224,000 for the township to pave Campbell, Beaumont, Cleveland, Nicholas, Nellie and Mary Ann streets; and Ohio Street between Stateline Road and Brookfield Avenue, said township Road Supt. Jaime Fredenburg. The township will pay the remainder of the cost, estimated at $359,000, from the road levy.
Hartford trustees were awarded $150,000 to pave both sides of King Graves Road between Warner Road and Albright McKay Road. Half of the road is in Brookfield and the other half is in Hartford. The townships will pay $75,000 each in match.
The townships, with the assistance of the Trumbull County Engineer, will solicit bids from paving contractors in the coming months for the paving projects.
Officials plan to ask for an Issue 1 grant to pave the second half of King Graves, between Albright McKay and Route 7, in 2026.
“Typically, if they gave you the first phase, they’re gonna give you the second phase,” Fredenburg said of an Issue 1 grant.
Brookfield also will pave Wildwood Drive and the unfinished portion of Crestwood Drive in 2025 after a storm water improvement project is complete. The paving project was awarded to Kirila Contractors of Brookfield as part of the 2024 paving program.
Martuccio Paving of Hermitage paved North Albright McKay Road between King Graves Road and just south of Amy Boyle Road with a cold-mix process that is different from the hot-mix process most township roads are paved with. A cold-mix road requires a chip-seal top and that work will be done in 2025, Fredenburg said.
