Trumbull County commissioners have set a public hearing to receive endorsements and objections to the North Stateline Road sanitary sewer extension project in Masury. The hearing will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 5 at the Brookfield Township Administration Building, 6844 Strimbu Drive, Brookfield.
The project would construct sanitary sewer lines to seven homes on North Stateline and take the waste into Hermitage’s sewer collection system. The waste would be treated at Sharon’s water pollution control plant. Hermitage commissioners approved the plan in 2019.
The project was initiated by property owners upon orders from the Trumbull County Combined Health District to replace failing septic systems. It was taken over by the county when commissioners granted $90,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds.
At the hearing, property owners will be told what they will be expected to pay for the project, which would be assessed on their sewer bills. These capital charges would pay off a loan taken to finance the remainder of the project, which in 2023 had been estimated at $155,000.
Trumbull County would bill property owners and pay Hermitage’s sewer charges.
