Coach Bob Rodgers
Brookfield Board of Education has moved on from Bob Rodgers, the long-time coach of the cross country and girls track teams, but Jerry Necastro hopes Rodgers knows that district officials still appreciate his efforts.
“I want to thank him for all the years he has spent there and the time,” said school board member Jerry Necastro. “He did a hell of a job.”
The board chose over the summer to go with art teacher Erika Scott as the cross-country coach, and on Dec. 18 tapped her for the girls track team.
“I hope that he understands there’s always a change,” Necastro said. “I would hope that, as we move forward, he is still able to volunteer and spend some time. He’s valuable.”
Supt. Toby Gibson called Rodgers a “great person,” and noted Rodgers had been coaching at least since Gibson started teaching 25 years ago.
Scott will be paid $4,287 to coach girls track.
