The My Brookfield app, created by Brookfield Township trustees on the GOGov platform, is up and running and available for download at any app store.
The trustees used American Rescue Plan Act funds to build the site, which will be up for at least two years. Development of the app will be “an ongoing process,” said Trustee Dan Suttles.
The site has information about the township and its departments and contact information, including direct links to the trustees. Documents available for download include copies of the exterior property maintenance code and the property maintenance complaint form.
“It’s always been one of my goals to involve the public more with the township, keep you informed more,” Suttles said at the Jan. 6 trustee meeting. “This is just a tool so you can know what we’re doing and we can let you know what we’re doing. You can get in touch with us easier through this process.”
Suttles said the app’s ability to send notifications is one of the key components that attracted him. Officials can inform app holders of snow emergencies, boil water alerts and emergency response scenes where traffic has been restricted.
In the short time the app has been live, trustees have used it to issue weather alerts, notice of a full-time job opening in the fire department and the agenda of a recent public meeting.
“So many things we can do,” Suttles said.
