Two Amazon delivery drivers sheltered two young children and called police when the children’s mother was assaulted by their father Feb. 14 in Brookfield, police said.

The driver who called for help told a dispatcher that Justin F. Brewer, 42, of 1005 S. Park Drive, Brookfield, was beating a woman and that the drivers had put the children, ages 4 and 6, into their delivery vehicle, police said.

Brewer was arrested in his home and had been drinking a large alcoholic beverage prior to letting police inside, police said.

The 35-year-old victim told police Brewer had been verbally abusive throughout the day. He later threw items, broke her phone and flipped over a dining room table, police said. Brewer threw the woman to the floor, choked her and punched her in the face repeatedly, police said. The woman bit Brewer’s finger to get him off her, but he grabbed her by the hair and continued hitting her, police said.

Brookfield Fire-EMS took the woman to a hospital.

Pennsylvania court records indicate Brewer is wanted for an alleged probation or parole violation in a driving under the influence case.

Brookfield charges of felony strangulation and misdemeanor domestic violence have been bound over to a grand jury.
