Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has filed a notice of violation against the owner of the Stateline Supermarket building on Superior Street in Masury for discharging water into a local stream without a permit.

A representative of the company that owns the business said he plans to either put in a new septic system or tie into Hermitage’s sanitary sewer system, which is across North Stateline Road from the store.

EPA said it was assisted by Trumbull County Combined Health District in an inspection Dec. 16. A dye test showed that water was flowing from the restroom onto a hillside instead of into a wastewater treatment plant, EPA said.

Officials observed a sign in the restroom instructing employees to place toilet paper in the trash can instead of in the toilet, EPA said.

An EPA letter dated Dec. 27 was addressed to building owner Pradeer Kaur of Warren. A second notice of violation letter was sent Jan. 30.
