A Masury man who allegedly set off a large fireworks explosion in his back yard that broke neighbors’ windows and caused items in homes to fall or keel over no longer faces criminal charges, although he agreed to pay restitution and costs.

Larz K. Soos, 19, of 7917 Budd St., has paid $714 in restitution and $660 in court costs, according to Trumbull County Eastern District Court records. He agreed that Brookfield police had probable cause to file six counts of misdemeanor criminal damaging.

Prosecutors asked for the dismissal of the charges on Feb. 20 and Judge Marty Nosich granted the request.

The incident occurred July 4. Brookfield police said they identified six people who had broken windows or other damage caused by the loud explosion, and the victims directed them to the Soos home. Police said the obtained records showing Soos had bought the fireworks.
