Brookfield Board of Education has hired a Columbus accounting firm to help Treasurer Jordan Weber navigate accounting issues.
Weber is supposed to contact the state when he has accounting questions, he said.
“They really don’t like to give you answers,” Weber said. “Thankfully, Julian and Grube does.”
Julian and Grube Inc., which will be paid $2,125 to consult for the rest of the school year, conducts audits for the state, and will conduct this year’s audit of the school district, he said.
“They actually came in and kind of pitched me of it and said, ‘Listen, here’s something we offer. You can call us up anytime throughout the year outside of the time that we’re doing your financial audit, so as opposed to doing something and waiting 15 months to find out if it was correct or not, you can just call us up,’” Weber said. “Even today, I had to ask about something accounting-wise for the new building. I was able to get an answer in 10 minutes, knew exactly what to do, as opposed to fixing something a year from now. I’m really looking forward to working with them on a strategic and long-term basis.”
