April 12 is Record Store Day and Fat Hippy Records has big things planned for the day. Zac Younkins hopes that people who aren’t much for vinyl will want to come out.

“I just want people to know that Brookfield has something going on,” said Younkins, the owner of Fat Hippy, 7188 Warren Sharon Road, Brookfield. “I want it to be more encompassing than just Record Store Day.”

Younkins has music, games, raffles and food trucks planned, starting at 10 a.m.

“We’re hoping it’s good weather because we could do a lot more if the weather’s good,” he said.

The core draw for Record Store Day is exclusive releases, and this year’s crop includes albums by David Bowie, the Doors, Tori Amos, Jethro Tull, Ice T and John Lee Hooker.

Local band Poobah will perform at 3 p.m. and have all the band merch you could want for sale. DJ Justin Pounds will spin 45s until 2 p.m.

Vegatier Express will serve Tex-Mex grub, Sugar Mama Cannoli Cart will offer gourmet treats, and Masury-based Slow Hurry Coffee will pour espressos, teas and lattes.

You also can challenge your buddies to ladder golf and cornhole.

No purchase is necessary to share in the fun.
