Trumbull County commissioners have approved the construction of a sanitary sewer extension on North Stateline Road in Masury. The March 5 action allows the county sanitary engineer to seek construction bids for the project.
Residents initiated the project on their own in 2014 but were unable to complete it when one property owner denied an easement for construction. The county took over the project and county commissioners awarded $90,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds in 2021. The sanitary engineer received a $75,600, no-interest loan from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency to fund the rest of the work. Residents will pay off the loan by a charge of no more than $35 a month on their sewer bills.
No one expressed opposition to the project, according to the commissioners’ motion to approve the project.
The project will install a main sewer line on the west side of Stateline connecting to the seven properties, and a connection to Hermitage’s sewer line in Crawford Drive. The waste will be treated at Sharon’s treatment plant.
County officials said they expect the project will be done this summer.
